BREWERS LOSE! CUBS WIN! IT'S ALL OVER!
2007 National League Central Division Champions,
The Chicago Cubs!

Hands off my ticket to the divisional series @ Wrigley!

Coming Monday, http://www.cubsmagicnumber.com/ will go into Playoff Mode. The number will reset to 11, the total number of wins needed by the Cubs this October for a World Championship (3 wins to advance from the Divsional Series, 4 wins for the League Championship Series and 4 wins to seal the World Series). Let's see the site go to 0 once more this year!

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

The Reds let the Cubbies run over them. WE'RE ON THE VERGE! The Cubs are GUARANTEED to play past Sunday. All eyes to Milwaukee (ESPN). Could it happen tonight?

This magic number is dedicated to the memory of Edward Jay Bennett. He was a great friend and Cubs Fan. Nothing more would have made him happier than a Cubs World Series win. So Cubbies, let's get some more wins!

Cubs don't win again, but the Brewers are not friends with the Padres. Brewers lose. Magic Number goes down! Tomorrow may be the day that we see it all come down.

Let's all cheer,
LET'S GO CUBBIES! LET'S GO CUBBIES!

And what could be better than WOO WOO on a horse to drum us up?(except a cubs win)

YEEEEE HAWWWW!

The Cubs are about to clinch, could happen tomorrow! When it happens, www.Cubsmagicnumber.com is going to switch to playoff mode. The Magic Number will be the number of games until the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. So, the number will be reset after the end of the regular season to 11. Go CUBS! and let's make it happen!

Let's give it up for the #3! The 3 Stooges say "nyuk nyuk nyuk" as the Cubs Magic # drops to 3 with the Blewers loss to the Cardinals 7-3! Yes the Cubs didn't play well against Florida, but the beauty of the Magic # is that that sometimes doesn't matter.

Go Cubs!

Yes, the Brewers crushed the hapless Cardinals last night. But Rachel here demonstrates the ease of which she'll think the Cubs will clinch this week by sliding into third while enjoying a frosty beverage.

Cubs at Marlins tonight at 6:05
Brewers vs. St. Louis tonight at 7:05

Brewers won last night, so no movement. Cubbies win just 3 games and Brewers lose 1, we're in! Or Cubbies win 4, we're in! The Cubs fate is in their hands.
Games tonight:
CUBS @ FLA - 6:05 CDT (WCIU TV/WGN Radio)
STL @ MIL - 7:05 CDT (no tv/radio in Chicago)

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

Cubs shut out the Pirates 8-0 to put the icing on the weekend! Everything's going Cubbie Blue!

At this point, Cubs can go 3-3 and win the division. 3-3 against the Marlins and Reds. I think the chances are good! Thank you Milwaukee Blewers!

Send photos, comments, playoff tickets to 2007@cubsmagicnumber.com.

HOLY COW, 9 GAMES LEFT AND THE MAGIC NUMBER IS 9! We're in the single digits! CUBS are 1 1/2 games UP! The Brewers have lost and continue to face strong competition (except the cardinals) the rest of the season.

CUBS play today at 1:20 against the Pirates at beautiful Wrigley Field. Let's get a W!
GO CUBS!

Send your photos (or links), funny and what not, to 2007@cubsmagicnumber.com to perhaps be included in the countdown!
Sucky site of the day: http://www.peeyourpantsforthebrewers.com/. Silly Brewers fans. Pants are for legs.

Thursday evening update- All eyes on Atlanta. Go Braves! Beat those Brewers.

Dumbest website of the day, thanks to Steve (from comments). They refer to Cubs fans as whiners... Thankfully they will likely not have to worry about wet pants.

CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN! Brewers lose! Cubs are back to up one game! We're not in the drivers seat yet... But being up by 1, is good! We'll hopefully be watching the Brewers lose tomorrow on the Cubs day off. GO CUBS!
Is it going to happen?

No change from Monday night to the number. What a let down yesterday was. Brewers win and Cubs lose. Zambrano looked bad and Cincinnati's Harrang owned the Cubs offense.

Hopefully better luck tonight with Lilly on the mound.

In other news, the Cubs organization released ticketing information for the possible NLDS home games. Detail can be found here. Sunday, 9am people!

Holy Moly! Did I just see that? Aramis! We love you!

Cubs are still in the "kinda" drivers seat. Kinda as in we need them Brewers to lose one game.

Send your photos. 2007@cubsmagicnumber.com

With 2 weeks in the 2007 season left, the Cubs are up 1 game on the Brewers. Cubs are playing 3 teams all with losing records and no playoff hopes (two series with the Reds, One each with Pirates and Marlins). Only 12 games remain.

The Brewers have 3 of 4 series remaining with teams still in the hunt (Padres, Atlanta, St Louis). Plus they have 2 more games (which can make up this game). I guess the Cubs are sitting well, and that's all I'll say about that.

Go Cubs!

How The Number Works

The Chicago Cubs Magic Number is derived by the following equation: Total Number of Games + 1 - Wins by the Cubs - Losses by Best Opponent.

The Magic Number is affected by one of two events, a Cubs win or the best opponent losing. The number is 163 at the beginning of the season. When the number hits 0, the Cubs have clinched the NL Central and are in the PLAYOFFS!

This site represents the Magic Number for clinching the National League Central Division . If the Wild Card becomes relevant for getting into the post season, this site may contain both. In that case, the Wild Card number will clearly be denote.

Shoot an email to 2009@cubsmagicnumber.com with comments and suggestions. Also, drop a Cubs theme'd photo with a story. It may be posted during future number updates.
