Holy cow! The Cubs downed the Cards 7-0 in St. Louis on Wednesday to take the series and lower the magic number to win the NL Central to ONE!

Jon Lester pitched a great game (8 IP, 8 K, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 ER) and even knocked in a run, Grandpa homered, and Rizzo homered twice to pace the Cubs' offense. The Cubs' win clinched a playoff berth for the second year in a row.

The Cubs return to Wrigley on Thursday with a chance to clinch the NL Central Division title -- their first since 2008 -- with a win against Milwaukee. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Central Time.

Let's go!

Do not know what will cost and don't care how crappy the seat, but after living and dying this for 70 years will be at Wrigley for the first World Series game. Just sad my dad won't be there too.

I would give up everything I have if only my dad could be here for this . His love for the cubbies was genuine.

How is the home field advantage magic number calculated?

Life long Cubs fan living in Dallas. You can be sure if it is the Cubs-Rangers World Series, I will be to at least one game regardless of the costs!! GO CUBS!!!

We base it off the second best team in the NL. (Nationals) Since we own the tie breaker, you take 162-Cubs wins-Nats loses.

Right now, it's 162-93-59=10.
