Another two drop day for the number! The Cubs took down the Astros with a score of 9-5. That brings them to an even .500 for this road trip. Addison Russel had another great day with 3 hits and 2 RBIs. Albert Almora, Jr. got a chance to start and made good with a 2 RBI single.

The Cardinals also lost to the Brewers which sets up a potential division clinching series with them this week.

This is it Cubs fans. The home stretch is upon us.

Honestly I am worried about jake in post season

Keep the faith...don't mess with the mojo!

Yes. The playoffs are all about pitching and the Cubs need all hands on deck to be at the top of their games. Arrieta is not and Hammil is iffy.

In his defense, Arrieta was playing while sick last night and was solid until the 6th.

Jake doesn't seem to have the same stamina as usual. He's good for 5 or 6 innings then loses it. As long as Maddon pulls him before he starts to try and push it, we'll be ok. If he lets him continue on...not good. I personally think he's hiding an injury and thinks he can play through it.

I'm more worried about how our bats go silent when we face a great pitcher

I think Jake needs another rest before the playoffs like after the all star game. On batting it seems like they are so intent on racking up the opposing pitcher pitch count they are often times against good pitchers going down in the count. Running up pitch counts it's great but against good pitching you need to mix in first pitch strike swinging

We'll be okay if we have a 6 run or more lead... 7 game series is just too short for a pitching (or hitting) slump. The Cubs ARE definately the team to beat! Let's just not lose to a team with only an 88 game win season.

You hit that one on the head... other than Rizzo, lots of young hitters on the team, I hope the boys in blue will put up lots of runs in the post season... Be patient, work the count, take the walk, and let the pitch count rise until you figure him out.
