It has happened before in MLB. The '85 Royals pulled it off most recently. The '16 Cubs will need to do it to follow in their footsteps. Jon Lester takes the mound Sunday night at Wrigley to keep the Cubs' hopes alive.

Wins Needed for the Championship

After 71 years...

WELCOME TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!

The Cubs came to game six on a mission, and proved it when Dexter "You Go We Go" Fowler hit a lead off double and Kris Bryant hit a single to bring him home. The Cubs would just keep on hitting.

The hero of the game was Kyle Hendricks who pitched 7+ innings of no run ball. His line was 7.1 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 0 base on balls, and 6 strikes outs! For only the second time in post season history, only 27 went to the plate!

There really are only two words...

LET'S GO!!!

Cubs 8 - Dodgers 4

Hey, hey! For the first time in 13 years, the Cubs are just one game away from being the National League Champions. The Cubbies took the lead in the first when Rizzo doubled to bring Fowler home. The Dodgers tied it up in the fourth. After that, it was all Cubbies.

Lester kept the Cubs in the game with seven innings, six strike outs, and one earned run.

The hero of the night was Addison Russell (again) with a two run homer in the sixth that brought home the winning run. The Cubs would add another five insurance runs to cap off the night in LA.

The NLCS will end where it should... at Wrigley Field!

Wins Needed for the Championship

Just when you thought we were in trouble, the Cubs woke up the bats in a big way. The line up combined for 13 hits, and more importantly, Rizzo and Russell started making contact for the first time in the series. They combined to make 6 hits and 5 RBIs.

The Cubs have tied the series 2-2 and have forced a Game Six back at Wrigley. Let's go!

Wins Until the Winning the World Championship

Cubs 8 - Dodgers 4

Only three times in postseason history has a pinch hitter come off the bench to hit a grand slam. One of those was Miguel Montero during Game One of the 2016 NLCS!

After getting out to an early 3-0 lead, the Cubs let the Dodgers tie it up in the 8th. With two outs and the bases loaded, Miggy was down in the count 0-2 when he saw a slider hang and became the hero Chicago never expected.

Dexter Fowler capped it off the next at bat with another home run, and Rondon saved Chapman's win.

This is already an amazing NLCS, and it's only Game One!

Helluva game Monday night in San Francisco, but the Giants outlasted the Cubs in extras. Arrieta, KB, and Mike Montgomery were clutch, and Albert Almora's diving catch kept the game going late.

Both teams are back at it Tuesday night, with John Lackey (8-5, 3.11 career postseason) dealing for the Cubs and Matt Moore (1-1, 4.41 career postseason) starting for the Giants.

Wins to the Championship

The guys decided to wake the bats up tonight! After giving up four runs, the Giants were forced to pull their starter, Jeff Samardzija, in the third, but Kyle Hendricks followed soon after in the fourth after being hit in the arm. Luckily, the x-rays came back negative, and the bullpen shut out the Giants.

One highlight of the night was Travis Wood hitting a homer during his relief stint. It was his first homer since 2014 and only the second time in history that a reliever has hit a home run in the post season! Oh, and he also got the win!

The Cubbies will be in San Francisco on Monday ... look for some brooms at the park.

Cubs win! Cubs win! Cubs win! The 2016 NL Central Division Champion Chicago Cubs capped off a historic regular season with a signature comeback win at Cincinnati on Sunday. They erased deficits of 3-0 and 4-2, the bullpen tossed four innings of shutout ball, and Matt Szczur's 9th inning two-run double put the Cubs ahead for good.

The Cubs won their division going away, 17.5 games ahead of the second-place Cardinals, by winning 103 games, the most by a Cubs team since 1910. All in all, a fantastic season!

The North Siders wrapped up home field advantage throughout the NL playoffs. Game 1 of the NLDS is Friday, and they'll face the winner of Wednesday's NL Wild Card game between the Mets and the Giants. Here's the series schedule (some times TBA):
