Hey hey! The Cubs downed the Giants Wednesday at Wrigley, 5-4. Kyle Hendricks tossed a quality start (7 IP, 5 K, 0 BB, 2 ER) and Anthony Rizzo homered twice while going 3-for-3.

The Giants made it interesting in the top of the 9th, tagging Chicago closer Wade Davis for two runs -- his first earned runs of the season -- but he rallied to close out the game and pick up the save.

The four-game series wraps up Thursday afternoon at the Friendly Confines, and the Cubs head to LA on Friday for a weekend set against the Dodgers.

Holy cow! The Cubs downed the Giants 4-1 behind a complete game by Jon Lester (9 IP, 1 ER, 10 K, 0 BB) and homers from Jason Heyward, Anthony Rizzo, and Kyle Schwarber.

Lester lowered his season ERA to 3.19 in the effort, the lowest of any Cub starter and good for ninth-best among NL starters.

The four-game series continues at Wrigley on Wednesday.

Hey hey! The Cubs downed the Brewers 13-6 on Sunday at Wrigley behind a quality start by Jake Arrieta (6 IP, 0 ER, 6 K) and an offensive outburst that included 3-for-3 days from Kris Bryant & Willson Contreras.

KB homered twice, and Rizzo & Zobrist each knocked one out of the park. Zobrist's led off the game for Chicago, making Joe Maddon's lineup change -- batting Zo leadoff and Schwarber 2nd -- instantly look good.

Ian Happ continued his strong MLB debut, going 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored, raising his average to .346.

The North Siders host the Giants on Monday to kick off a four-game set.

Tough weekend in St. Louis for the Cubs, who dropped two of three. Ian Happ got his first MLB homer in his first MLB game, and looked good both offensively and defensively. Javy Baez got his first start in right, relying heavily on those in the Cubs' dugout for positioning help.

After a much-needed off day Monday, the North Siders host the Reds at Wrigley on Tuesday.

Hey hey! The Cubs got back on track Tuesday night in Denver, downing the Rockies 8-1 in the second half of a day/night doubleheader.

Jeimer Candelario went 1-for-4 with an RBI, BB, and run scored in his 2017 Cubs debut; Kris Bryant homered and knocked in two; John Lackey tossed a quality start (7 IP, 0 ER, 10 K); and the bullpen got a much-needed rest after a tough weekend series against the Yankees.

Joe Maddon demonstrated some creativity with the Chicago lineup, starting KB in right, Candelario at third -- batting cleanup, and Zobrist in left. With J-Hey on the DL, look for some more interesting defensive arrangements over the next week or so.

The North Siders wrap up the series against Colorado on Wednesday and have an off day Thursday before heading to St. Louis for a weekend set against the first-place Cards.
