Well, it was a tough weekend in Boston, but the Cubs remain in first place and the magic number keeps dropping.

Good news: the North Siders return to the Friendly Confines Monday to kick off a seven-game homestand with a four-game set against the Phillies. The Yankees come to town for a three-game series next weekend.

Holy cow! The Cubs shut out the Pirates 1-0 Tuesday night behind a quality start by Kyle Hendricks and three scoreless relief innings by the bullpen.

Pittsburgh held the North Siders to only two hits, but Addison Russell scored on an error in the 2nd and the Cubs held on for the win.

The three-game series wraps up Wednesday at PNC Park, and the Cubs close out their nine-game road trip with a weekend set in Boston.

Hey hey! The first place, defending World Series champion Cubs trounced the Pirates 14-3 at PNC Park tonight. Brett Anderson tossed a quality start, and the Chicago offense built a 9-1 lead after 1.5 innings and never looked back.

Russell went 4-for-6 with three runs scored, J-Hey drove in four, Zobrist drove in three, and the Cubs tallied 17 hits en route to an easy win.

The three-game series continues tomorrow in Pittsburgh.

The first place, World Series champion Chicago Cubs split the final two games of their series against the Reds, winning Saturday's game 12-8 behind homers by Contreras, Rizzo, and Heyward, but dropping Sunday's contest 7-5 despite Rizzo's third homer in as many games.

The North Siders continue their road trip in Pittsburgh, where they kick off a three-game set on Monday night.

Holy cow! The first place, defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs were the Comeback Cubs once again on Friday night, roaring back from a 5-2 deficit to beat the Reds 6-5 in 11 innings.

Kris Bryant drove in the game-winning run with a sacrifice fly, driving in Albert Almora, who raced home to score on a shallow fly. Javy Baez went 2-for-4 with an RBI, J-Hey hit his first homer of the season, and Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

The Cubs' bullpen continued its recent tear, tossing 5 1/3 innings of one-hit, no-run ball to pick up Jon Lester. All in all, a great team win! That's Cub.

The three-game series continues on Saturday in Cincinnati. Go Cubs go!

Hey hey! The Comeback Cubs were at it again today, scoring five times in the last two frames to knock off the Brewers 7-4. Addison Russell capped off the win with a two-out, walk-off, three-run homer. That's Cub!

The Cubs' bullpen was stellar again today, holding Milwaukee to two hits and no runs over the final four innings. Addy knocked in four on the day, and Willson went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Wade Davis's ERA remains at 0.00 through his first eight appearances.

The North Siders now head to Cincinnati, where they'll kick off a three-game weekend series against the Reds on Friday to start a nine-game road trip.

Holy cow! The Cubs came back from a 5-0 deficit to down the Brewers 9-7 at Wrigley on Tuesday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak.

The Cubs' bullpen combined for 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball, and the North Siders' offense went off with a 14-hit effort. Miggy went 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 RBI, J-Hey went 2-for-4 and raised his average to .300, Schwarber hit a two-run homer, and Almora knocked in two.

The series wraps up Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley. Go Cubs go!

It took a while, but the Cubs took care of business Monday night at Wrigley, raising three World Series Champion banners (1907, 1908, 2016) and downing the Dodgers 3-2 with a walk-off RBI single from Anthony Rizzo.

Hall of Famers Fergie Jenkins, Ryne Sandberg, and Billy Williams were in the house to help with the festivities, and Jon Lester struck out seven over six innings on a cold night in the Friendly Confines.

The series continues Wednesday night, when the Cubs will receive their World Series rings. That's Cub!

The World Champion Cubs took another W in Milwaukee today. They downed the Brewers 7-4. The Northsiders are now tied with the Reds for first place!

The boys in blue are now coming home for the first home game of the season against the Dodgers!
