Holy cow! The first place, defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs offense continued its tear on Saturday as the North Siders beat the Braves in a slugfest at Wrigley, 14-12, for their sixth straight win.

Jon Lester returned from his DL stint and looked a bit rusty, giving up 8 H and 4 ER (including three homers) in 5 IP, but the offense picked him up. Rene Rivera hit a grand slam to put the Cubs on the board in the 2nd inning. Rizzo drove in three, and Almora, Heyward, and Baez each drove in two. Heyward reached in 4 of 5 plate appearances. That's Cub.

The Cubs go for the series sweep at home on Sunday before they head to Pittsburgh for a four-game set starting Monday. Follow CMN on Twitter!

Go Cubs go!

Yes, Jason. Every tiome the Cubs win the magic number goes down by one. The same is the case every time the 2nd place team (Brewers) lose.

Exactly! The CMN is now 23. Refresh your browser if it still says 24 (or any other number!).
