Holy cow! The first place Cubs downed the Pirates 7-1 on Sunday night in the Little League Classic in Williamsport. Jose Quintana had a dominant start (7 IP, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K) while Castellanos, Heyward, and Rizzo homered.

Castellanos continued his hot streak as a Cub by going 2-for-4; J-Hey also went 2-for-4 with a walk, raising his season OBP to .350; and Tony reached base in 4 of 5 plate appearances to raise his OBP to .395. That's Cub.

The win gave the North Siders their first road series win since taking 2 of 3 from the Nats in May, and the guys certainly seemed to be having fun in Williamsport.

While one regular season win doesn't necessarily make or break a season, this one may have pressed a much-needed reset button for the road-weary Cubs. The battle for the NL Central title will be interesting, as the Cubs have seven games remaining apiece with the Brewers and Cardinals.

With Cishek, Contreras, Descalso, and Morrow on the healing side of their recent injuries and Ben Zobrist working his way back to Wrigley via a minor league tune-up, these next six weeks should be a helluva ride.

124 games down, 38 to go. Go Cubs go!

Bad loss for the Cubs today in the 9th against Philly which resulted in a sweep. The Cards lost too so the number drops. Cubs/Cards tied for 1st place. There is plenty more time to get the Cubs back in gear.
