HOLY COW! The Cubs won their seventh straight game on Friday, beating the Cardinals 3-2 in St. Louis. Mike Tauchman saved the game with a home run-robbing catch over the center field wall to end the game after Hoerner and Swanson turned a stellar double play to get Alzolay out of a ninth inning jam.

Hayden Wesneski served as an opener for Drew Smyly, who struck out six in 4.1 innings. Merryweather set the stage for Alzolay's 12th save.  The four Cubs pitchers combined to rack up 12 strikeouts.

The North Siders squandered scoring chances in the 8th and 9th, but their 9th inning defense sealed the victory.

The Cubs are now 10-4 since the All-Star break and have won 26 of their last 41.

The series continues Saturday at Busch.

Holy cow! The Cubs won their sixth straight on Thursday, beating the Cards 10-3 behind another quality start from Steele (6 IP, 1 ER, 4 K), three RBI from Gas Money, and three hits and two RBI apiece from Tauchman and Morel.

After being ten games below .500 on June 8, the North Siders have gone 25-15 to climb back to .500. They're the hottest team in the league, having won six straight and won eight of their last nine.

The series continues Friday in St. Louis.

Holy cow! The Cubs beat the Guardians 10-1 on Friday behind a quality start from Steele (6.1 IP, 0 ER, 6 K), three RBI from Morel, three hits from Nico, and two hits apiece from Bellinger, Madrigal, and Young.

Young's delayed arrival in Chicago has been a welcome one, as he's off to a hot start with a .444 average and a 1.666 OPS through his first 9 at-bats. Hard to believe that the Cubs were choosing to play Mancini instead of him, considering what a great year he's had in Iowa.

The game was a nice departure from the North Siders' struggles against the Phillies earlier this week, and kicked off a weekend set against Cleveland.

The series continues Saturday at the Friendly Confines.
